New BFF

Guide to whatever the hell being "vegan" is

Don't do drugs.

115 pounds... fat? what?

So last year when i went to the doctor she told me i'm 115 pounds... and overweight..? I am 5 feet tall and have been eating crap my whole life. I LOVE ALL food. Its kind of a problem.  I hope people comment and call me fat and whatever because I know Im overweight and want to at the very least inspire change in some girls my age. Im trying to be as realistic as possible. I know change wont happen overnight... but can I just tell you, I actually feel less bloating in my stomach already.. after just ONE day...and I know i'm not that big or anything but my goal is really just to be a healthier person.
So.. Heres my first incredibly embarrassing photo.. I wish I had a shot of tequila to press the post button...

This will be especially interesting seeing how ALL my friends, and family can see this....

Mission Vegan!

Soo... I decided to start a vegan diet and yesterday was my first day! I've decided to use my blog as not only for hair and makeup for to keep a journal about turning myself beautiful from the inside out! I have been interested in nutrition but because of my OBSESSION with food have never taken any steps to change my diet. I've never really looked at diet as a way to beautify yourself. Lately in my classes we have been talking about all the different benefits that come with fruits and vegetables, most are benefits for your skin, hair, and nails. I would LOVE to strengthen my hair and skin, especially since i have a long line of skin cancer in my family to beat.
Im going to start keeping up with all of you and ask you to please comment and give me some recipes that i can try and post about!- And i know this doesn't seem too fun.... but Im allowing myself to start with TWO cheat days... then ill have one in a few weeks.
Ill track my progress with all of you, even if that means sharing gross details and embarrassing pictures. I need motivation and help.

Heres one of my first steps!

Here I bagged up some different snacks to take to school or a friends house.. or even out drinking.. hehe. I bought bags of peanuts, veggie sticks(taste like potato chips) and dried fruit from Trader Joes and spent about 15 minutes making my own snack bags! Its so easy and you will in turn save money by not buying a bag of chips out of the vending machine!

For my first dinner I made brown rice(Trader Joes has easy freezer packets- microwave for 3 minutes) green pepper, onion, tomato(which i HATE!!! but they are so good for you!) and carrots! On the side I had a 1/4 cup of peanuts! I actually still have leftovers for today as well.

So there it is! my first day as a vegan! It wasn't that bad.... Minus the cravings for sushi, cheeseburgers, and really anything with meat and dairy... oops.

PLEASE comment below and give me suggestions and tips!

Makeover... the big reveal!

After rinsing the color, I cut Taylor's hair and styled it with a blowdryer and flat iron. For smooth results, always use a heat styling spray and follow your flat iron with some smoothing serum.

Here's the final result:

Makeover part 2

The color is all applied now. The color needs to process for about 15-30 minutes depending on how porous the hair is. Taylor's will process for 20 minutes or so.

And now we wait...
Next, we will rinse the color and begin her cut!

Makeover!

Today's post is a makeover post! My friend, Taylor, wanted a new cut and color for fall so I'm killing two birds with one stone by giving her a fabulous makeover and turning it into a blog post so you can all see the magic happen step by step.

Taylor's hair is colored already but her color is brassy and faded from a red dye job earlier this summer. I'm going to correct this by doing a neutral brown color from Redken (color 3N) with some blue undertones to counteract the red/orange tones in her hair. I like Redken because it has natural conditioners in it and it always produces beautiful, rich color.

I'm applying the color from the roots using a color applicator brush. When doing at home color, remember to always use gloves to protect your skin!

After the color, I'm going to give Taylor a haircut. She wants about a half an inch to an inch off the ends as well as some layering. The goal is to give her a cleaner version of the haircut she already has because she likes the length it's at but her ends are dead and dry.

Here's a before picture of Taylor's hair to give you an idea of what we're starting with.
